Leave requests

Request time off, review it as a manager, and see it land on the schedule.

Weqly handles time off end to end: members request it, managers review it, and approved leave shows up on the schedule automatically.

Requesting leave (members)

  1. Go to the leave section.
  2. Choose Request leave.
  3. Pick the leave type (annual, sick, etc.), the dates, and add a note if you like.
  4. Submit.

Your request goes to your manager for review. You can track its status at any time.

Leave statuses

StatusMeaning
PendingSubmitted, waiting for a manager’s decision.
ApprovedConfirmed. It appears on the schedule and any balance is deducted.
RejectedDeclined. No time or balance is used.

Reviewing leave (managers)

Managers see incoming requests in the Manage view, split into Pending, Approved, and Rejected tabs.

To act on a request:

  1. Open the pending request.
  2. Review the dates and the person’s remaining balance.
  3. Approve or Reject (you can add a note explaining your decision).

The requester is notified of the outcome. You can also work through several pending requests at once from the bulk view.

How leave affects the schedule

Once approved, leave is shown on the schedule so nobody gets scheduled while they’re off. Approving leave deducts from the person’s balance for that leave type; rejecting or cancelling returns it.

Balances

Every person has a balance per leave type (for example, a set number of annual-leave days per year). To understand how balances, accrual, and annual resets work, see Leave types & balances.
